Most commonly used chemical to gently clean fabrics is perchloroethylene or perc, also used in industrial degreasing, paint stripping, and metalworking.
Several studies reveal perc causes dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, loss of consciousness, limited memory loss, skin blistering, and visual and coordination issues. Prolonged exposure increases the risk of cancer.
