Aspiring art luminaries completed the statement “Art For Me Is…” by drawing an image or writing at the art wall installed at Shell House in Makati City, after they have submitted their entries for the much-awaited Shell National Students Art Competition (NSAC).

The art wall is part of power, energy, and gas technology leader Pilipinas Shell’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of NSAC, the longest-running annual art tilt in the country, that aptly carries the theme, “The Golden Voyage” this year.

Arvin Santos poses with his sculpture and painting entry for Shell NSAC

Some of the student-artists won Shell Select Deli2Go gift certificates after posting their photo on social media with the hashtags #ShellNSAC50 and #thegoldenvoyage.

Over 800 entries were received from young artists from all over the country under the Oil/Acrylic, Watercolor, Sculpture, and Digital Fine Arts (Print) categories.

Pilipinas Shell continues to support programs for youth development through art as part of its future energy vision of powering nation-building, and sustainable, inclusive growth. The company also does this by promoting technology and innovation, energy efficiency, smarter mobility, energy conservation, and by diversifying the energy mix through continuous efforts to explore gas technology and supply cleaner-burning natural gas, among other initiatives.

Arvin Santos, a student from the University of the East-Caloocan, joined with his painting and sculpture entry. This is Arvin’s third and last time joining Shell NSAC. “I hope this year will be my year” he said.
