As temperatures continue to rise and beach plans begin to take shape, it’s crucial to protect ourselves from the heat. This summer, skincare essentials, particularly sunscreen, are more important than ever. But with countless options flooding the market, how do you choose the right one?

Korean skincare brand Nature Republic believes they have the answer, and it’s powered by aloe vera and made for the country’s tropical weather.

In an interview with Manila Standard Life during its Sun Safe Pool Club event, Nature Republic Philippines’ division manager Marian Gonzales shared insights into their sun care line, California Aloe Sun Care, which focuses on practicality, comfort, and compatibility with the local climate.

“Our sun stick isn’t exactly new. We just refreshed the packaging. It’s been here for a while, but this time, we’re highlighting how it fits into daily routines—not just for beach trips or outdoor sports,” said Gonzales.

Nature Republic’s four-part sun care line includes the Daily Sun Block, Tone-Up Sun Block, Jumbo Sun Block, and the Sun Stick.

The Fresh Powdery Sun Stick boasts an SPF 50 and a unique powdery finish designed specifically for hot, humid environments like the Philippines. Unlike traditional sunscreens that can feel sticky or heavy, this sun stick glides on smoothly and dries down to a matte texture.

“People often skip sunblock because they think it clogs pores or feels oily. That’s why we developed this—it won’t clog your pores, and it leaves a powder-like finish without sacrificing moisture,” Gonzales added.

Its key ingredient is aloe vera—a soothing, hydrating botanical already beloved in the brand’s cult-favorite Aloe Soothing Gel. Gonzales noted the synergy between the two products.

“The sun stick and aloe gel are a perfect match, especially for summer,” she continued.

Also part of the lineup is the Daily Sun Block, a lightweight sunscreen with a pink base that doubles as a makeup primer.

Gonzales explained how customers can layer their protection.

“You can use the Daily before makeup as a primer, then the Sun Stick afterward as a setting finish,” stated Gonzales.

Completing the sun care line are the Tone-Up Sun Block and Jumbo Sun Block—though the jumbo and tone-up variants are temporarily out of stock due to high demand in Korea.

When asked about skincare tips for the sweltering season, Gonzales shared three essentials.

“Hydrate with water, always moisturize—even in summer—and never forget your sunscreen, even if you’re just indoors,” she said.
