Philippine specialty coffee and premium liquor were featured in coffee cocktails served at the Coffee in Good Spirits (CIGS) event at GOTA Coffee Experts, recently named Europe’s number one coffee shop.
The event launched this year’s Filipino Food Month in April and continued the Philippine Embassy’s partnership with GOTA, aimed at promoting Philippine coffee to international markets.
The cocktails were created by GOTA co-owner and 2022 Austrian CIGS champion Markus Brun and 2021 and 2023 French CIGS champion Charlène Cabioch. Both drinks used single origin coffee from Mindanao paired with liquor from Destileria Limtuaco.
One cocktail, inspired by the Filipino snack turon, combined Very Old Captain Artisan-Crafted Dark Rum with cold brew made using Wide Awake PH’s Mt. Apo Lactic Honey, topped with banana cream. The second drink featured Manille Liqueur de Dalandan and Wide Awake PH’s 72-hour anaerobic natural espresso, mixed with milk clarified using citrus.
“This month we want to show how Filipino single origin coffee and premium liquors can be combined to concoct drinks that highlight their characteristics and let you taste our truly world-class products,” said Philippine Ambassador Evangelina A. Bernas in her welcome remarks.

The Philippine coffee from Mt. Apo and Bukidnon, roasted by Wide Awake PH and Kape de Filipina, will be available at GOTA Coffee Experts’ brew bar throughout April. The featured cocktails will also be offered on GOTA’s coffee cocktail menu during Filipino Food Month. Each order is accompanied by art cards created by Philippine Embassy attaché Kristine Camille Cruz, detailing the coffee’s origin and flavor profile.
