The Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (GEP), together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), commemorated the 143rd anniversary of Jose Rizal’s licensure as an expert surveyor and assessor.
As part of the celebration, GEP National President Engr. Raymund Arnold S. Alberto laid a wreath at the Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, Luneta, Manila. He was joined by representatives from the organization.
Following this, NHCP researcher and historian Eufemio Agbayani III delivered a lecture at the Epifanio de los Santos Auditorium in the National Library of the Philippines. The talk explored how Rizal obtained his surveyor’s license and how he used his skills to improve the lives of Filipinos, including his redesign of Dapitan’s street layout, among other contributions.
The program also featured remarks from NLP Director Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano, GEP President Alberto, and Paolo Antonio L. Azurin, a descendant of Rizal.
The commemoration took place on Nov. 25.
