Filipino artist JM Saycon will showcase his latest exhibition, Birth of the Innocent, at Art Underground in San Juan from Nov. 22 to Dec. 5.
The exhibit features marble sculptures wrapped in aluminum foil, symbolizing the interplay of classical and modern materials. Saycon aims to juxtapose the resilience of ancient traditions with the reflective surfaces of contemporary elements.
Drawing inspiration from history and the humanities, Saycon highlights the connection between women and intelligence across generations. The sculptures feature serene faces of women and children, symbolizing innocence, strength, and hope. The works reflect on childhood as a symbol of renewal and the enduring role of women in shaping the future.
The exhibition encourages viewers to consider the relationship between wisdom and purity, blending historical influences with modern perspectives.
Art Underground is located at 180 Mabini St., San Juan.
