Cosentino, a global leader in sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, has launched Earthic by Silestone XM, a new collection developed in partnership with Italian design studio Formafantasma.
The project aims to incorporate recycled and unconventional materials into surface design, highlighting a commitment to sustainability within the industry.
The Earthic collection, introduced in April this year, represents the next generation of Cosentino’s mineral-based hybriq surfaces. These surfaces are produced using 100 percent renewable energy and 99 percent recycled water, with a reduced crystalline silica content. The collection also incorporates up to 30 percent recycled materials, including glass, PET, bio-resin, and fragments of Dekton, a material made from recycled industrial waste.
Cosentino and Formafantasma emphasize the role of design in addressing environmental concerns, stating that Earthic reflects a more sustainable approach to production processes.
“Our collaboration with Cosentino is an attempt to design from the inside out – where the aesthetic choices correspond directly to ethical and sustainable choices,” said Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma.
The collection is divided into two series: Ffrom, which focuses on the transformation of recycled materials, and Raw, which highlights the natural characteristics of the materials used. Both series offer a range of patterns and colors aimed at reducing the environmental impact of surface production.
Cosentino’s Earthis by Silestone XM aligns with the company’s broader goal of minimizing resource extraction and promoting the use of sustainable materials in design.
