CCP launches Dynamic January with art, music, and outreach

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) welcomes 2024 with a burst of cultural vibrancy, offering a rich program of exhibitions, performances, and outreach initiatives.

January promises an exceptional blend of art, culture, and surprises, ensuring a dynamic start to the year. Explore art exhibitions and experience top performances at the CCP, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the richness of artistic expression.

The CCP Office of the President’s outreach program extends its cultural offerings to the provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, and Palawan. Featuring the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and Teatrong Mulat, these projects aim to deepen public engagement and foster a genuine appreciation for arts and culture.

Highlighting the outreach events are the PPO Outreach Concerts in Iloilo (Jan. 19, at 6:00 p.m.) and Capiz (Jan. 21 at 6:00 p.m.), along with Teatrong Mulat in Palawan on Feb. 23 at 3:00 p.m. ang 7:00 p.m. Entrance to these events is complimentary.

Immerse in the cultural journey with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s 39th Season – Concert V ‘Fate’ on Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m., hosted at CCP’s Samsung Performing Arts Theater. 

Under the baton of Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, the orchestra will present Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4 Op. 36 in F minor ‘Fate’ and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 Op.15 in D minor, featuring renowned pianist Jerome Rose as the guest soloist. Tickets range from P500 to P5,000.

On Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m., Daloy Dance Company and Joy Alpuerto Ritter present Joy & Daloy at Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Black Box Theater). This one-night-only show features “ItikLandia” and “BABAE,” blending traditional Filipino elements with contemporary expressions. Tickets for this unique contemporary dance experience are priced at P1,500.

The CCP also hosts the ongoing exhibition Potential, Potency, and Women Printmakers at CCP@Iloilo, Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA), until March 30 with free admission.

Explore the vibrant realm of Philippine contemporary art with Selections from the 21st Century Art Museum Collection at CCP’s National Museum venue, running until November 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Tuesday to Sunday). This free exhibition showcases the evolution of artistic expression, spanning the 1960s to the 1980s. 

Experience the interactive generative audio composition Bisita Planeta by Tad Ermitaño, available online through the 21st Century Art Museum (21AM) website, providing a unique exploration of new media art at no cost.
