The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is serenading Bacolodnons live during the PPO Sa MASSKARA concert, taking place in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental today. The musical event coincides with Bacolod’s famed MassKara Festival, known for its vibrant masks and the city’s “City of Smiles” moniker.

Hosted by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, in collaboration with the Local Government of Bacolod through the Office of Mayor  Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez  and Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc., this free public concert will feature the PPO, led by Maestro  Herminigildo Ranera.

The concert will encompass an array of musical genres, including light classics, Original Pilipino Music, and movie themes. Audiences can expect familiar tunes such as  Gioacchino Rossini’s “William Tell Overture,”  Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite,” selections from  Richard Rodgers  and  Oscar Hammerstein’s  The Sound of Music, and much more.

Adding to the musical enchantment, the  Nightingales, former members of  The Philippine Madrigal Singers, will grace the Bacolod concert. These talented vocalists bring opera’s magic to the stage with a unique blend of musicality and a wide-ranging repertoire, including opera arias, Broadway classics, and popular standards.

The PPO Sa MASSKARA concert is part of the CCP’s outreach programs, dedicated to preserving and promoting Filipino arts and culture. Established in 1973, the PPO has become one of the country’s leading orchestras, performing alongside renowned conductors and acclaimed artists.

The PPO brings its brand of music through a live concert tonight at 7:00, at SM City Bacolod Atrium.

The PPO, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will stage its other outreach concerts at Cavite City on November 24, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority on November 26, Nueva Ecija on December 9, and Barasoain Church on December 18 as well.
