Taking sleep to the next level

In today’s world (and economy), many people consider sleep a luxury more than a necessity. Besides a hectic schedule filled with tasks, people tend to have problems getting a good night’s rest because of several distractions, like social media, unwanted thoughts, and sometimes, sudden hunger pangs.

Mix and match bedroom decor to achieve a preferred aesthetic

With all these disturbances, how can people improve their sleep? Rea Campos-Lopez, the owner of Himbing Baby Sleep Solutions, offers some solutions to get a good night’s sleep. As a certified sleep coach, Campos-Lopez continuously stresses the relevance of rest.

“Our sleep affects everything—overall physical health, [our] mental health, and all our functions. [Especially] Now, it helps our immune system, so the less sleep [that] you have, the weaker you are,” Campos-Lopez said.

She added that if people slept the minimum requirement of seven hours a day, they could shed 14 pounds from their body weight without extreme effort. More significantly, sleep sets the tone for the day, and getting less than necessary can cause physical, emotional, and mental strains.

Before sleeping, she recommends minimizing brain activity and slowly winding down with a relaxing routine to help set the mood. Campos-Lopez also suggests sleeping in dark rooms to signal the brain to rest.

Another method that Campos-Lopez urges is to take power naps, lasting 15 to 20 minutes, throughout the day, especially when one feels tired.

However, she says to sleep at the right time, meaning not too close to bedtime, because it could disrupt a person’s sleep schedule or body clock.
Campos-Lopez also encourages investing in the bedroom. After all, comfort comes from the feeling that someone feels safe and confident. Here’s where Swedish furniture giant IKEA comes in, complete with fixtures to spruce up a bedroom while maintaining quality for comfort.

The mattresses have different levels of comfort buyers can choose from to fit their sleep preferences. For instance, the VADSO spring mattress provides stable and even support, while the ASVANG foam mattress contains foam for sleepers looking for a cloud-like sleeping experience without sacrificing support.

On the other hand, the VALEVÅG combines the qualities of spring and foam mattresses. It’s an extra firm high mattress with individual pocket springs and a thick foam layer for maximum comfort. The VALEVÅG encourages even distribution of body weight through comfort zones that can support the hips and shoulders.

IKEA also developed an ergonomic pillow, KLUBBSPORRE, with cushioning memory foam on one side and a gel layer on the other, relieving pressure and tension from the neck and shoulders while keeping the surface cool.

Investing in the bedroom is a must for people who want to improve their sleep quality

Since people spend the most time in their bedrooms, whether to relax or do some tasks, IKEA also added a touch of flair to their pieces to ensure that it meets their buyers’ aesthetics. They can choose from floral prints, minimalist designs, or block patterns to mix and match their bedrooms’ vibe.
