The newly-rebranded PRTV has reached new heights in providing viewers with substantial, credible, reliable, up-to-date and valuable information as it relaunched the formerly analog-transmitted channel as the first digital free television channel in Region VIII.
The local government information office said Tacloban City will now be an information capital in Eastern Visayas with the rising demands of platforms for information to reach a broader market, especially far-flung communities in Region VIII.
The private-owned regional TV station is registered under the Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC) and is permitted to broadcast via digital transmission through a 250-watt transmission power.
Apart from PRTV, its mother company PMPC has also several affiliate regional radio network like the Favorite Music Radio (FMR) that has station across Eastern Visayas particularly FMR Tacloban 100.7, FMR Calbayog 88.5, FMR Catbalogan 106.9, FMR Borongan 101.7, FMR Ormoc 100.9, and FMR Catarman. It is also partnered with other radio networks in the country such as the 96.7 Friends Radio in Iligan, 88.5 ZRadio in Davao De Oro, 99.3 Like Radio in Zamboanga Sibugay, and 104.1 Like Radio in Ipil, Zamboanga.
The People’s Television (PTV), a state-run TV station based in Manila, is currently in talks for some of its programs to be aired using one of PRTV’s digital channels as part of its commitment to help the government in its information dissemination efforts for peace and development.
The upgraded and remodeled PRTV is designed to strengthen and improve the broadcast services in Eastern Visayas through free television airwaves with basic programming.
PRTV boasts several features such as the acquisition of two digital channels which could be accessed through smart TV or non-smart TV but with commercial digital boxes like the commonly used affordabox or TV plus.
Currently, PRTV has forged partnerships with the Department of Health, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources in their advocacy and information programs while Department of Education’s TVSkwela will come in this month to reach learners in far communities.
As the station innovates more strategies for the audience, it will soon introduce news and current affairs, entertainment, health and wellness, sports, public service, magazine and lifestyle programs.
It also plans to launch national Cignal TV programs before the end of the year.
These future undertakings aim to cater to the audience’s visual interests and to generate more employment in the region as it needs great manpower for production and 24/7 operation
