The Parañaque City government has announced a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to process business permit applications in the city.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the partnership allows the local government to check in real time the validity of business name registration directly linked to the DTI’s online facility via secured connection.
“The city government through the Business Permits and Licensing Office has been consistently implementing e-governance solutions to ease business registration especially for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). We welcome this new milestone to be the first local government unit connected to the Business Name Registration System (BNRS) Next Generation,” said Olivarez.
He explained that one of the system’s key features is the easing of business name registration for sole proprietorship as this is expected to reduce the number of procedures, time, and requirements in registering your business at the national and local level. Joel E. Zurbano
The city government will be able to notify business owners if the name registration is about to expire or is due for renewal.
At present, there are at least 20,000 MSMEs registered in the city.
“The system integration will ease business application process as the part of the local government’s preventive measures in this period of community quarantine,” according to Olivarez.
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez praised the city government for this initiative as it complements the department’s common agenda to achieve an end-to-end online business registration in the Philippines.
“This signifies our commitment to creating a competitive business-friendly environment for our MSMEs. We are looking forward to have more LGUs connected in the BNRS Next Gen,” Lopez said.
Launched in 2019, the BNRS Next Gen aims to upgrade and simplify the previous legacy system with added functionalities on digital payment options.
This complies with the provisions of Republic Act 11032, Section 9 (e) which states that “all government agencies to develop electronic versions of licenses, clearances, permits or authorizations with the same level of authority as that of the signed hard copy, which may be printed by the applicants or requesting parties in the convenience of their offices.”
