The local government of Muntinlupa will start to distribute cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to 53,836 families in the city’s nine barangays affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
Muntinlupa Social Service Department chief Analyn Mercado said the city government will begin to distribute SAP cash aid amounting to P8,000 to qualified families as validated by DSWD on April 25.
Mercado said the city’s SSD and representatives from DSWD will conduct simultaneous distribution in nine barangays through home visitations.
SSD initially distributed P8,000 cash assistance to 880 families included in the list of SAP beneficiaries in Barangay Buli last April 19. Target beneficiaries of the SAP are low-income families and workers in the informal economy who are daily earners.
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi assured city residents that the local government will continue to provide assistance during the duration of the enhanced community quarantine.

Lessors of commercial establishments and residential units were also requested to waive rental fees and charges of tenants and partners in the city amid the COVID-19 emergency.
Some areas in Muntinlupa are now under “pocket lockdown” following the rise of confirmed, suspect, and probable cases of COVID-19. Stricter measures are being implemented in Brgy. Poblacion, Brgy. Sucat, Brgy. Tunasan, and other areas to prevent the movement of suspected carriers and curb the spread of the virus in the communities.
Residents in barangays with “pocket lockdown” are only allowed to buy essential goods from 6:00 AM – 12:00 NN. Those who tested positive for COVID-19, probable, and suspect cases, including their families, are also restricted in leaving their houses. Food packs and other supplies will be provided by the barangay government to affected residents.
The public is advised to refrain from going out unless necessary and follow protocols provided by the local and national government.
As of April 23, Muntinlupa City Health Office recorded 129 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city with 18 deaths and 19 recovered cases. According to the local health office, there are 16 “suspect” cases and 392 “probable” cases in Muntinlupa to date.
