The Taguig City government continues to implement precautions against the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

A series of meetings and discussions are being held in public schools, daycare centers, hotels, hospitals, and other establishments in the city to protect residents and prevent the spread of the infectious disease, the city government said in a statement.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano also ordered the immediate distribution of hand sanitizers and non-contact thermal scanners in schools and daycare centers to monitor the body temperature of students, faculty, and other school personnel upon entering their campuses.

The city government also provided infrared thermometers and stationed hand sanitizer dispensers at the TLC Park, Taguig Lakeshore Hall, Center For The Elderly, and Taguig Manpower Training Center.

Cayetano said the health equipment is one of the many efforts by the local government to help combat the COVID-19 threat. This initiative is part of the city’s mandate to ensure preparedness.

The city government recently laid out its two-pronged approach in response to the threat of COVID-19.

First is on prevention and protection by a. Releasing advisories and updates on its social media channels (Facebook and Twitter); b. Distributing masks for employees, frontliners, public school students, daycare students, tricycle and jeepney drivers, and vulnerable sectors;

C. Distributing infrared thermometers and hand sanitizers to all daycare centers and DepEd schools; and d. Recommended the use of thermal scanners for homeowners, schools and business establishments with a high volume of people.

On monitoring and reporting, the city government: a. Established a hotline for COVID-19 reports and queries (8789-3200); b. Established process flows for determining, reporting and monitoring possible cases for various sectors like schools, hospitals, health centers, barangays, homeowners associations, private establishments and the general public;

C. Capacitated force multipliers in the barangays, schools and health centers in screening individuals who might manifest symptoms; and d. Dormed a monitoring team that is readily available to verify reports of individuals manifesting symptoms.
