Acuzar views Pasay project as 4PH model

A housing project in Pasay City under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s flagship program will pilot urban renewal and redevelopment of informal settlers in the National Capital Region, according to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

Housing czar Jose Rizalino Acuzar said “more than just housing, the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) project in Pasay City will serve as a model of our urban renewal and redevelopment efforts, centered on the welfare of informal settler families as ordered by the President.”

He said part of DHSUD’s mandate under Republic Act 11201 is urban development, which covers transforming blighted areas into sustainable township developments.

“This is not only about housing, but it will be a showcase area for how we can transform the areas on the side of the estuaries into more pleasant and prosperous communities," he said.

On July 5, DHSUD, the Pasay City government and the Manila International Airport Authority forged an agreement to give way for the smooth implementation of the project.

The arrangement covers the establishment of a staging area for the informal settler families who would need to be relocated during the construction of the 4PH project until the permanent housing units are turned over to the qualified beneficiaries.
