The University of the Philippines (UP) is hosting an ongoing exhibit of National Artist for Film, Kidlat Tahimik (Eric de Guia), titled “Indo-Genius! Tatlong Alamat Ng Tagumpay” at the Atrium of the UP Fine Arts Gallery, Diliman, Quezon City.

The gallery is open to the public Tuesdays to Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The exhibit has drawn students and arts enthusiasts starting Wednesday, organizers said.

The exhibit commemorates the upcoming 503rd an niversary of the Battle of Mactan, remembered as the first victory of Filipinos against Spanish forces, whose leader Ferdinand Magellan was killed by island chieftain Lapulapu on April 27, 1521.

“These works are part of the artist’s installations which delve into the cultural struggles and aspirations of the Filipino people, deploying indigenous materials, traditions, and narratives to comment on the persistence of cultural imperialism and neocolonialism,” according to the UP Fine Arts Gallery.
