The Team Pagbabago of lawyer Alex Lopez, who recently ran for mayor of Manila, held a successful ‘Pasasalamat motorcade’ last Saturday, accompanied by about a thousand supporters.
After the motorcade, Manileños made various heartwarming comments, one of them being “in their hearts, Atty. Alex is their mayor.”
Many voters in the capital city expressed their disappointment with the May 9 election result, and they believe Lopez really won as mayor of Manila, his camp said in a statement.
“Gradually, there are more and more calls from various sectors to fight for the victory of Atty. Alex. They believe that they were cheated because the other camp allegedly violated many laws during the last election,” it said.
The Lopez camp claimed that according to an expert, the result of the Manila election was “statistically improbable.”
“Many barangays were also wondering how the numbers came about, where they hoped that Atty. Alex Lopez won because almost all of them voted but only five (5) votes came out in the election returns. There are also many vote -buying incidents that occurred,” the statement added.
According to witnesses, “there was a handout of money and they even got a photo and video of it,” the Lopez group said.
They said it “cannot be denied that there issues haunting (Manila mayor-elect Honey) Lacuna and (incumbent mayor Isko) Moreno before the election.
“These are the illegal sale of the Divisoria public market, overpricing of food packs, delays in seniors amelioration, and so on,” the group added.
“It is not far off that they will do everything to escape from the responsibility and protect their own interests,” the Lopez statement said.
“The people of Manila still cannot keep quiet and will not let the greed of the current administration of Manila to prevail,” it said.
“The Manileños call and request to have another election to show the whole country who really won in the Mayoral race in Manila, and that is none other than Atty. Alex Lopez,” the statement added.
Manileños siding with Lopez believe there was “a failure of elections in Manila, due to widespread fraud.”
On Tuesday, these parties called on Lopez to file a complaint with the Commission on Elections owing to the alleged fraud that took place.
“Until now, the people are waiting for the next step of Atty. Alex Lopez and they hope that the Comelec will take immediate action on this issue,” they said.
