Mayor Imelda Aguilar on Monday said the Las Piñas City Manpower and Training Center continues to offer free short courses to out of school youth and unemployed adults to provide city residents better job opportunities.
For the second quarter this year, some 482 city residents will graduate from various vocational and technical courses from the Center.
Aguilar said the free training on various courses from April to June is aimed at helping city residents find gainful employment or start their own home-based or backyard business to augment their family’s meager income.
The Manpower Training Center offers English proficiency, automotive servicing, commercial cooking, consumer electronics, food and beverages services, hairdressing, massage therapy, personal computer operations, refrigeration, and aircon servicing, shielded metal arc welding, industrial electricity, cellphone repair, housekeeping, travel services and motorcycle/small engine servicing.
Every year, around 5,000 out-of-school youths and unemployed adults benefit from the free training. The training center is also awarded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA as one of the Most Outstanding Skills Training Centers in the country.
Aguilar said graduates in the center could apply for work abroad citing bigger demand for skilled workers in other countries.
Many industries are already on the lookout and offering employment to graduates with special technical vocational skills, she said.
Graduates in the center were molded and trained for various courses and specializations. These graduates are now ready to give quality and world-class service in all parts of the globe, she added.
Aguilar expressed confidence the graduates will value their gained technical knowledge to improve their lives and become better citizens.
