CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—A municipal health officer was shot dead by unknown assailants in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte on Wednesday night.
Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Chief Senior Supt. Faro Antonio Olaguerra said they are now investigating the killing of Dr. Dreyfus Perlas, Municipal Health Officer of Sapad, Lanao del Norte.
The doctor was driving a motorcycle when “riding in tandem” killers shot him in the back, causing his death, Olaguerra said.
“We have gathered evidence, including [Perlas’] phone, which we are submitting to the anti-cybercrime group,” he added.
Perlas supposedly had an argument with a patient, or a relative of a patient, at the Bontilao Country Hospital in Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte, the police chief noted.
Olaguerra added a single .45 caliber cartridge was recovered from the crime scene.
“We also did a background check on his family and it is clean, so now we are focusing our investigation with the Bontilao hospital incident,” he said.
Lanao del Norte Gov. Imelda Dimaporo also asked him for updates, Olaguerra added.
Kapatagan Mayor Barry Baguio said he will be offering money for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
