Bataan State U VP’s paper cops first place in PCAARD S&T awards

BALANGA CITY, Bataan—The paper of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Vice President for Research, Extension and Training Services Dr. Hermogenes Paguia was adjudged First Place Best Development Paper in the 2020 PCAARRD’s Science and Technology Awards.

Paguia’s paper is titled “Improvement of Mango Production through Science and Technology Innovations and Support Mechanisms for Capacity Development in Bataan and Zambales.”

Winners were announced during the virtual PCAARRD’s 9th Science and Technology Awards and Recognition rites a week ago.

Paguia presented the paper in the National Symposium on Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NSAARRD) online on December 1.

The paper was entered to compete at national level when it was awarded regional champion Development Category in Central Luzon Agriculture and Aquatic Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) Best Development Paper 2019.

Organized by PCAARRD yearly, NSAARRD recognizes outstanding contributions of individuals and institutions in improving the state of Research and Development in the country in agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sector.

For over a decade, Paguia has been leading the research on mango production in Central Luzon. 

BPSU President Greg Rodis has been pushing for sustainable innovations and researches of the university to reach end users.

“The innovations and researches we are doing in BPSU will mean nothing if do not reach end users”, the university president earlier said.

BPSU is known to have a dynamic research and extension office.
