Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—Governor Carlos Padilla said he would give P.1 million as an incentive for barangays declared cleared of illegal drugs by concerned agencies.

Padilla announced this during the declaration of 10 drugs-cleared barangays and awarding of certification here.

"We are happy and honored for you to be declared as such. We will give P.1 million incentive for our awardees and I will convince the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to give the same as incentive for other barangays who will do a similar feat," Padilla said.

He said the incentive was intended to inspire and encourage the barangays to do their role in the government's Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign.

The drugs-cleared barangays were Bangar of Solano, Casat of Bayombong, Nangalisan and Murong of Bagabag, Sta. Clara of Aritao, Dullao and Aliaga in Bambang and Papaya, Ally and Kongkong in Kasibu town.

The certification was confirmed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the provincial government, among others.

Padilla and Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, newly-installed PNP Regional Director for Cagayan Valley led the awarding of the certificates to the barangays.

Out of the 198 barangays, 132 were cleared of the illegal drugs problem while 66 remain drug-affected.

The program was the first activity to be conducted at the People's Stage after almost six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
