CARMONA City—A communal land in the newest city of Cavite province is set to be transformed into an arena of joyful events through the Sorteo Festival that will take place from Feb. 14 to 23 in conjunction with the city’s second anniversary celebration.
The city government under Mayor Dahlia Loyola will open the festival with the 27th Loyola Cup Golf Tournament to be held at Southwoods Golf Course, plus a photo contest on Valentine’s Day.
CarmoNegosyo and 19th Dahlia Street Dance unfolded on Feb. 15. A thanksgiving mass was held on Sunday at the St. Joseph Parish, signalling the National Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disability Awareness week celebration, highlighted by a basketball game with the celebrities.
The Sorteo Festival 2025 opens on Monday with a parade of festival floats along the city proper, capped by the Binibining Sorteo Talent and Swimsuit night, as well as a bingo social spearheaded by the Parent and Teachers Association of Carmona.
Formal inauguration of the new City of Carmona infrastructure projects and Music Development Drum and Lyre tilt take place on Feb. 18. Dennis Abrina
A job fair under the auspices of the Public Employment Service Office is set on Feb. 19, followed by the Binibining Sorteo 2025 coronation night, with fireworks display ushering in the Sorteo draw.
Other activities include a Motorcade and Youth Summit to be held on Feb. 20, Kadiwa ng Pangulo on Feb. 21, Palaro ng Lahi and Kite Flying Festival on Feb. 22 , and the second cityhood anniversary celebration with inauguration of some infrastructure projects of the locality on the last day of the festivity.
