The Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT), with the 17 municipalities and its lone city, successfully passed the Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) for 2023.

This achievement, recognized and signed by Bureau of Local Government Supervisor Director Debie Torres, CESO IV, also includes the provinces in Region III, namely Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga.

According to Department of the Interior and Local Government Tarlac Provincial Director Armi Bactad, these citations manifested transparency and accountability in financial management, proving their commitment to following standards in accounting and auditing as evaluated by the Commission on Audit (COA).

“Congratulations to our 19 LGUs that continue to inspire toward quality public service and good local governance”, Bactad said.

Tarlac City was among the 13 cities in Central Luzon cited for this year’s GFH, while 109 municipalities in the region, including 17 from the provinces, were also given citations.

Governor Susan Yap, in her message, said that passing the GFH shows the province’s continued commitment to fiscal discipline and transparency in the local budget, finances, and other public offerings.

“I am proud to share that the Province of Tarlac, along with the 18 LGUs, was among the 2023 GFH passers. This serves as evidence of smooth governance, systematic handling of financial transactions, and transparency in governance,” said Gov. Yap.

Before 2023 ended, PGT, with the 15 municipalities and its lone city, was also awarded the 2023 DILG SSeal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
