CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – The LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA) and REGASCO joined the Province of Isabela in commemorating the annual Bambanti Festival, which honors the hard work of local farmers and expresses gratitude for a plentiful harvest.
Arnel Ty, President of the LPGMA Party List, emphasized the significance of the Bambanti Festival 2024 in promoting LPG law among the Isabelino populace and other provinces’ festivals, boosting tourism, and providing information on safe LPG use.
“It is through this festivity that we could support boosting tourism and the proper way to give proper information for the safe use of LPG and all its provisions for the consumers, Ty said.
Ty, a legitimate Isabelino and father of the liquefied petroleum gas industry, said: “We are really fortunate that the biggest television series today, ‘Batang Quiapo,’ has a cast that is committed to our advocacy.”
“Along with the ambassadors from the TV series ‘Batang Quiapo,’ we are committed to raising awareness and enforcing the severe standards outlined in RA 11592, also known as the LPG Law, Ty stressed.
During the press conference, the raised question stated that since not all dealers are members of the LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA), they can help secure a license for them to operate to safeguard consumers and the community as a whole.
The strict application of Republic Act 11592 or the LPG Law is an important step forward in the country’s efforts to promote safe LPG use since it ensures the safety and welfare of consumers and the community as a whole, Ty said. It offers detailed criteria for proper LPG handling, storage, and distribution, resulting in a system that actively protects against potential risks.
“It not only protects citizens but also makes it easier for companies to operate while ensuring the safety and well-being of their customers,” he emphasized.
The law aims to protect consumers against malpractices within the industry, such as illegal refilling, underfilling, and the sale of counterfeit or non-compliant products.
Noting that there are four million cylinders that are dilapidated and unsafe, holders of run-down cylinders can ask for a safe and secure tank replacement at no cost as a provision of the law. REGASCO can communicate with any brand with a license to operate, Ty said.
He has urged fellow industry players to ensure the safe usage of liquefied petroleum gas in the country, in accordance with RA 11592, also known as the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Industry Regulation Act.
Following last year’s regional summit, another summit will likely take place in Cauayan City, Isabela, to review the terms of RA 11592.
“The media plays an important role in alerting consumers about the Department of Energy’s legislation, thus, we are in the private sector,” Ty said.
LPGMA, REGASCO, and the “Batang Quiapo” cast will raise awareness about the LPG Law at SM City Cauayan as they participated in the Bambanti Grand Parade on Jan. 27.
