State health insurer Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has frontloaded P72,983,582.39 million to the Quezon Primary Care Provider Network’s (QPCPN) Konsulta Sandbox following its launch in July this year.
This placed the Province of Quezon ahead of the other sandbox sites or pilot areas like Bataan, Guimaras, South Cotabato, and Baguio City to receive the fund that will enable the province to provide primary care package and deliver health services to its residents.
As the first local government unit (LGU) in the country to establish the Konsulta Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN), Quezon Province will enable every Quezonian to have a primary care service provider or affordable medical services through the implementation of Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama or Konsulta primary care benefit package, which includes free primary care consultation, health screening and assessment, diagnostic services, and provision of essential medicines at any Konsulta Package Provider (KPP).
Allocated funds were deposited in the Provincial Special Health Fund which guarantees all Quezonians accessible, adequate, affordable, and quality health-care products and services.
According to Governor Doktora Helen Tan, residents of the province are set to benefit from the program which they can avail from various health facilities across the province.
She urged Quezon residents to register in their respective rural health units (RHUs), health centers or the Quezon Provincial Hospital Network (QPHN), which include QPHN-Alabat, QPHN-Bondoc Peninsula (Catanauan), QPHN-Candelaria, QPHN-Claro M. Recto (Infanta), QPHN-Dona Marta (Atimonan), QPHN-Guinayangan, QPHN-Gumaca, QPHN-Magsaysay (Lopez), QPHN-Mauban, QPHN-Polillo, QPHN-Sampaloc, QPHN-San Francisco, QPHN-San Narciso, QPHN-Unisan, and QPHN-Quezon Medical Center, to avail of the benefits, especially for the out-patient medical needs.
“In pursuit of universal health care (UHC) and consistent with the objectives of primary health care, the Province of Quezon is committed to undertake vigorous health facilities enhancement, sustainable provision of medicines and supplies, and stronger health information system”, Tan said.
Tan, who is also the principal author of the UHC Act, explained that it is a significant step towards the integration of Quezon’s health systems into Province-Wide Health System that is designed to provide continuous, coordinated and integrated care and address the fragmentation issues in service delivery.
She thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. along with the PhilHealth and the Department of Health as well as the local chief executives, municipal health officers, and hospital chiefs of the province for supporting the program’s implementation.
