In a major advancement for health care access, residents suffering from chronic kidney disease can now receive treatment at the newly opened hemodialysis unit of the Misamis Occidental Provincial Hospital, which opened on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024.
“I am deeply thankful to our beloved Governor for this free dialysis. It is a tremendous help for us, especially since we cannot work properly due to our health issues,” said Jesbert Mag-usa, a 35-year-old patient from Sapang Dalaga who has been battling stage 5 chronic kidney disease for six years now.
Mag-usa previously underwent dialysis at St. Therese Hospital in Oroquieta City, paying as much as P1,450 per session.
Dialysis patient Carl Escabarte, a resident of Talic, Oroquieta City, shared: “Our dream of extending our lives to be with our families has come true. This is a huge help for us, as before, the expenses were high, but now there are none, and we also receive monthly medical assistance of P3,000. We are very thankful.”
