Mental health hotline now integrated in QC Helpline 122

In observance of National Mental Health Month, the Quezon City Government further intensified its mental health initiatives through the integration of psychosocial support and crisis intervention in the city’s Helpline 122.

QCitizens or those individuals currently in QC who are experiencing mental health concerns and wish to seek help simply need to dial “122” on their phones.

Patients will then get help from trained helpline operators who are offering non-judgmental and emotional support and information. The 24/7 Helpline is confidential and free.

“There are moments when we cannot bear our problems and the challenging thoughts in our lives, so sometimes we need to talk to someone,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.

“Our responders can be reached through Hotline 122 and they are ready to listen and assist you until you feel better.”

Crisis responders were trained by the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) on suicide and crisis management. They were accompanied by health workers who underwent training on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and Psychological First Aid.

Three sets of teams are on duty every day to ensure that callers are provided with immediate interventions in times of crisis.

Further, the Quezon City Health Department trained over 370 barangay officials and staff on psychological first aid to assist residents process and overcome traumatic experiences.

City Health Workers in health centers are also conducting lectures on mental health awareness among their patients.

Quezon City is the first city to establish its own Mental Health Code, through City Ordinance 3158-2022.

Mental Wellness Access Hubs are also established in communities to assess, diagnose, and disburse free prescription medication.
