Jaro, Iloilo City – A severe fire engulfed many houses in Barangay Cristina in this town at around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, leaving 19 families homeless amid significant damage to properties.
The fire went to a fourth alarm before firefighters declared it under control by 6:07 p.m.
According to the Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), nine houses were completely destroyed by the flames and one was partially damaged, affecting a total of 49 individuals.
The displaced families have been temporarily relocated to the Iloilo Baptist Church within the barangay, where they are receiving emergency assistance and support.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
