CALAMBA City—Mayor Roseller Rizal has unveiled plans for a month-long celebration of the city’s founding anniversary, dubbed “Calambagong Buhayani 2024.”
The events will have for its theme “Isang Dekada ng Saya at Parangal sa mga Bayani ng ating Bayan” (A Decade of Joy and Tribute to the Heroes of our Nation).
In an interview, Rizal told said the upcoming events scheduled for this month “promise a diverse range of activities that highlight the spirit of heroism and community in Calamba City.”
“From the culinary delights of Kusinang Calambeño at the Jose Rizal Function Hall on June 10 to the intellectual showcase of Talinong Rizal at the City Mall Calamba Event Hall on June 11, there is something for everyone to enjoy,” the mayor said.
He said art enthusiasts can look forward to a painting competition at the Jose Rizal Coliseum on June 11, while the commemoration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day at the Jose Rizal Coliseum Function Hall on June 12 will honor the nation’s history and freedom.
The celebration continues with engaging activities such as “Kwentong Bayani” sessions with local leaders, including himself and Vice Mayor Totie Lazaro at the Museo ni Dr. Jose Rizal on June 13, shedding light on the heroic tales that inspire the community, he said.
Moreover, Mayor Rizal said the Buhayani Job Fair at SM City Calamba on June 14 aims to provide opportunities for employment and career growth, emphasizing the city’s commitment to supporting its residents.
The Calambagong Bayani Awards 2024 on June 14 at Bulwagang Rizal will recognize individuals who have exemplified extraordinary courage and service to the community.
“The festivities culminate in the Calambagong Buhayani Festival 2024 Grand Parade at Riverview Resort on June 19, followed by a float competition at the town plaza, celebrating the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal at Museo ni Dr. Jose Rizal on the same day,” the mayor said.
As the month draws to a close, Rizal said a River Run from Jose Rizal Plaza to Brgy Lamesa on June 30 promises a refreshing and invigorating conclusion to the month-long celebration. Additionally, the Calambagong Bayani Bazaar at Rizal Plaza will be open throughout the month, offering a variety of goods and products for visitors to enjoy, he added.
“With a rich tapestry of events and activities lined up, Calambagong Buhayani 2024 is set to be a jubilant celebration of heroism, community, and the enduring spirit of Calamba City,” Rizal said.
