FCCEA provides business skills, language classes

The Filipino-Chinese Cultural and Economic Association (FCCEA), a non-profit established in 1919, is offering a variety of summer classes designed to promote cultural exchange and enhance skills.

The classes, scheduled from April to July 2024, will be held at the FCCEA facility on the fifth floor of Liberty Hall at 820 Benavidez St. in Binondo.

“We encourage interested individuals to register promptly to secure their spots,” the FCCEA said in a statement.

Course offerings include:

Business Chinese Summer Class: This class will run from April 13 to June 15, with sessions from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. It aims to equip participants with essential language skills for conducting business in Chinese-speaking environments.

Mandarin Conversation Summer Class: Starting April 14 and concluding on June 16, this class offers morning sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to improve their Mandarin conversational skills.

Chinese Dance Summer Class: Designed for students aged four to 10 (9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) and those aged 11 and above (2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.), this class runs from May 27 to July 5. Students will delve into the practice of traditional Chinese dance, experiencing its cultural heritage firsthand.

Min Nan Conversation Summer Class: Offered in two basic levels, this course focuses on conversational proficiency in Min Nan, a dialect spoken by many ethnic Chinese in the Philippines. Basic 1 runs May 31 to June 28, while Basic 2 is offered June 17 to June 25. Both classes meet from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Abacus Summer Class: This class introduces students to the ancient Chinese calculating tool, fostering mental arithmetic skills. Level 1 runs May 31 to June 14 and June 17 to June 28 (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.), while Level 2 meets May 31 to June 19 and June 21 to July 1 (10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.).

Chinese Calligraphy Summer Class: Offered in two levels, this class runs from June 4 to June 25. Level 1 meets from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., while Level 2 takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students will learn brush strokes and explore the aesthetic principles behind traditional Chinese calligraphy.

Chinese Painting Summer Class: Similar to the calligraphy class, this course is offered in two levels from June 4 to June 26. Level 1 meets from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., while Level 2 takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants will learn techniques and styles under the guidance of experienced instructors.
