Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna recently achieved global recognition after being selected as a speaker at the Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) 2024 Harvard Conference in Boston.

As one of the noted speakers, Lacuna shared her extensive experience as a public servant with an audience comprising academic and business delegates from various countries.

The three-day conference provided delegates with a comprehensive understanding of issues across political, social, economic, cultural, and business domains.

Lacuna, known for pioneering health care programs during her tenures as councilor and vice mayor, also took the opportunity to establish closer ties with academic delegates from universities in the Philippines.

“In my over three decades of service to our fellow Manileños, l shared our experiences that can serve as lessons for delegations from different parts of the world,” said Lacuna.

As the first lady mayor of Manila, Lacuna remains dedicated to improving the health and social well-being of her constituents.

Her participation in the conference follows in the footsteps of former Vice President Leni Robredo, who spoke at the same event in 2023, making Lacuna the second Filipino to address the prestigious gathering.

Founded in 1991, HPAIR aims to create a platform for students and young professionals to engage in discussions on critical economic, political, and social issues in the Asia-Pacific region.

Over the past two decades, the organization has played a pivotal role in fostering relationships among young leaders globally, connecting them with influential figures in the academe, business, and government.
