Sarangani has dedicated a day to honor and showcase its Moro community’s vibrant traditions and cultural heritage.

The event, Kabpapagariya: Moro Day, held on Nov. 27 as part of the Munato festivities, aimed to celebrate and preserve the customs that define the Moro’s unique identity within the province.

Kabpapagariya is a Maguindanaon term meaning friendship or brotherhood, which demonstrates Moro’s strength of their unity, a fundamental aspect rooted in the teachings of Islam.

The day featured presentations highlighting their distinctive fashion, dances, culinary delights, and more.

Provincial Administrator Ryan Jay Ramos delivered a message on behalf of Gov. Rogelio D. Pacquiao, emphasizing the enduring significance of the traditions and values that have shaped the community across generations.

Gov. Pacquiao underscored this year’s festival as a reminder that embracing “peace and unity within our hearts, homes, and communities” leads to the “greatest blessings bestowed by Allah.”

It is also a reminder of the “lively hues of our Moro brothers and sisters, recalling the significance it carries in representing our rich and diverse cultural heritage,” he said.

The governor expressed pride in Sarangani’s progress, crediting this to the collective efforts of its people and leaders, and conveyed his confidence in Sarangani’s potential to continue to “soar higher.”
