With the metro’s vibrant art scene, today is the perfect day to visit local exhibits. Two exhibits are currently ongoing, both drawing inspiration from nature and reflecting on human experiences.
Filipino artists Ross Capili and Rico Lascano present their reflections on the shifting dynamics of nature and the enduring sense of wonder it evokes in Interchange exhibit, ongoing until Aug. 3, at Conrad Manila in Pasay City.
The 30th series of Of Art and Wine by Conrad Manila, the exhibit features 32 art pieces. Capili’s works explore and offer a visual feast of the profound connection between nature and music. His passion for music can be seen in his brushstrokes, which depict the rhythm of rain and wind, as well as the vibrant crescendo of colors in bloom. His signature metallic orb hovers on canvas, symbolizing the presence of the sun and moon overseeing this eternal and universal harmony.
Lascano is renowned for his Zen-themed artistry. He perceives nature as serene, inviting internal reflection and deep contemplation. In this exhibit, water, sky, and wind are depicted with a renewed and intimate vision – quiet, still, and misty, devoid of color yet suffused with light.
Rico’s Zenscapes beckons the viewer into a meditative repose, with spare compositions, muted layering of hues, and delicate brushstrokes exemplifying his intuitive interpretation that nature is inherently spiritual.
“Conrad Manila is proud to unveil the newest major works of two prominent and respected artists, as part of our ongoing commitment to promote Philippine arts and culture In this exhibit, our guests and art patrons can behold and experience the interchange of emotions that nature evokes through the artwork,” shared Conrad Manila general manager Fabio Berto.
Gracing the exhibit opening were SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation president Elizabeth Sy and SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation executive vice-president Peggy Angeles, with PG-FLEX Premium Plastic Group President and Moto-italia Philippines Inc. chairman Nelson Guevarra as guest speaker.
Meanwhile, artist Anastacio E. Silverio showcases a compelling blend of everyday life and musical inspiration in his exhibit Musa at Musika, at the NCCA Gallery in Intramuros, Manila City. Featuring 14 two-dimensional artworks, the exhibit runs until June 30.
Silverio curated pieces that reflect his unique ability to draw inspiration from his environment, emotions, and mundane experiences. His works encapsulate the resilience and emotive power of music, portraying it as a force that elicits love and helps overcome obstacles.
Each piece is a visual narrative focusing on a solitary character set within subtly fantastical landscapes. Notably, he incorporates images of computer motherboards to create a dialogue with technology, revealing intricate landscape details that merge technology with nature and blend the old with the new.
The NCCA Gallery is located on the Ground Floor, NCCA Building, 633 General Luna St., Intramuros, 1002 Manila.
