The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, the administration’s senatorial slate, is leveling up its campaign in Negros Oriental, as it brings a message of progress and continuity to the second most populous province in Central Visayas, with its nearly one million registered voters for the 2025 elections.

Building on the strong foundation that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. laid during the 2022 national elections, which won him the province’s vote, Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco, the alliance’s campaign manager said they are “looking to replicate and expand upon the success we achieved in 2022 with our agenda of progress, continuity and reform resonating deeply with the people of Negros Oriental.”

Negros Oriental is a crucial battleground for the alliance with the province’s 976,185 registered voters, and a historically high turnout rate of 85.22% in the 2022 elections.

Aligning with the province’s economic backbone is the coalition’s platform in agriculture and tourism—sectors that saw significant growth in Negros Oriental in recent years.

Negros Oriental stands to benefit from the coalition’s commitment to modernize agriculture , improve famers’ access to credit and strengthen government’s fight against agricultural smuggling, as vast track of its lands are planted to sugarcane, sweetcorn, coconut and rice.

Meanwhile, the alliance’s tourism programs can be seen to dovetail with ongoing initiatives in the province, which include the Department of Tourism’s P450 million tourism road development allocation.

Tourist arrivals in the province saw an uptick in 2024, rising to 700,000 from 250,000 in 2023. “The coalition’s emphasis on infrastructure development through the “Build Better More” program of the Marcos administration and support for MSMEs in tourism-related businesses can boost this trajectory,” Tiangco said.

In fact, the province’s accommodation and food services grew fastest at 26 percent in 2023, as per data of the Philippine Statistics Administration-Negros Oriental, pitching in P178.6 billion to the provincial economy.
