AirAsia Philippines saw a surge in bookings in the first seven months of 2024, fueled by the tech-savvy Gen Z and Millennial travelers.

The budget airline said it recorded 1.10 million seats booked under various promos such as PISO Sale and the monthly double-digit sales from January to July 2024.

It said of this figure, 340,000 were Gen Zs and 480,000 were Millennials, while the remaining were Gen X and Boomers.

“Millennials and Gen Zs are tech-savvy, while Gen X and Boomers are tech native. Technology always plays an important role in their decision making. 70 percent of online and over the App bookings for the first half of 2024 came from Millennials and Gen Z’s,” AirAsia head of communications and public affairs Steve Dailisan said.

“To cope up with their travel needs, we need to stick to our working business model of low fare philosophy that focuses on streamlined, simple, and efficient business operation with high regards to passenger safety. We will continue to offer the most competitive and affordable airfare, fueling their excitement for travel with our monthly offerings,” he said.

AirAsia Philippines is offering more than 500,000 seats to all destinations, available until July 28 for as low as P177 one-way base fare for immediate travel until Dec. 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Philippines noticed that ‘revenge travel’ has been recently crossed out of the bucket list. A new trend which is coined ‘journey travel’ focuses more on the guest’s travel experience from point A to point B.

Rather than focusing on the end destinations such as a famous beach resort in Boracay or a luxurious hotel in Bangkok, travelers now also focus on creating memorable experiences and discoveries along the way.

“This is where AirAsia also comes to play. With an array of destinations, accommodations, activities, and other modes of transportation available on the AirAsia MOVE app our guests can create the best memories,” Dailisan said.

AirAsia, one of the country’s top low-cost airlines, flies to 12 domestic destinations and 13 international destinations.
