Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Tuesday expressed confidence President Rodrigo Duterte would endorse the results of the study of the inter-government agency on the adoption of a national position on nuclear energy program.
The Department of Energy submitted to Duterte the inter-government study on nuclear on Friday.
“We submitted it. We did the work, and of course, positive expectation. We hope that it will be included—the decision to include it in our energy mix. Favorably decided, hopefully, I’m praying,” Cusi said.
Duterte signed Executive Order No. 116 on July 24 providing for the creation of the Nuclear Energy Program Inter-Agency Committee chaired by DOE to conduct the study.
The committee was tasked to submit its recommendation on a national position on nuclear energy to the Office of the President.
