NTC collected P9.43b in 2023, surpassed revenue target by 62%

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said Monday that it surpassed its 2023 revenue collection target by P3.5 billion or 62 percent.

It said in a statement it topped the P5.91-billion goal set by the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) when it collected P9.43 billion last year.

The NTC attributed this to the dedicated efforts of its personnel in ensuring strict compliance among stakeholders. This included diligent collection of spectrum user fees, supervision and regulation fees and penalties, it said.

The NTC, as the government agency overseeing telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, plays a crucial role in regulating cable and commercial television operators, radio stations, and telecommunication companies.

“Our systematic collection effort is a humble contribution to the public service programs championed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” said NTC commissioner Ella Blanca Lopez.

Lopez said these programs prioritize food security, free and universal primary education and public health.

Collection targets of the agency are mandated in the budget of expenditures and sources of financing, a document required by the Constitution and consolidated by the Department of Budget Management.
