SBFI ramps up education initiatives in 2026

The Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) is set to scale up its nationwide education programs in 2026, building on measurable gains from last year that addressed classroom shortages, disaster-damaged facilities, and barriers for nearly 11 million out-of-school Filipino children.

“These programs show how empowering teachers and supporting learners creates ripple effects across communities,” said SBFI chairman Rafael Simpao.

SBFI aims to continue expanding its reach by building 60 new classrooms, repairing 100 additional classrooms, extending educator training programs, and supporting more scholars. Nationwide vision screening initiatives will also continue to address learning barriers beyond academics.

“Every classroom we build, every teacher we empower, and every scholar we support brings us closer to a Philippines where progress is inclusive and sustainable,” Simpao said.

In 2025, the Foundation delivered 901 classrooms to 153 schools across 92 cities and municipalities, repaired 80 classrooms, and rehabilitated 48 facilities affected by disasters or termites.

Its holistic approach, combining infrastructure support, scholar programs, and educator training, helped improve access to safe, inclusive, and quality learning environments nationwide.

Last year’s milestones include turning over 62 new classrooms, such as the Inclusive Learning Resource Center at Sta. Cruz Central Elementary School in Laguna, technical-vocational laboratories at Zamboanga City High School, and facilities supporting Tarlac National High School’s Special Program in Sports.

SBFI also trained 79 principals and 88 teachers through its Mentoring Future Leaders for Nation-Building program, supported over 300 scholars, and provided more than 1,000 students with eyeglasses.

SBFI’s impact is further strengthened by collaborations with government, universities, corporate partners, and employees, including a 2025 memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education granting nationwide recognition to its training programs.

Its work has earned recognition at the 21st Philippine Quill and 60th Anvil Awards for excellence in corporate social responsibility, communication, and employee engagement.
