Job placements in the Philippines dropped 30 percent since the start of the community quarantine on March 15, according to a report by online job site JobStreet.com.

It said in the same report that the number of those actively seeking work represented only 22 percent of the potential labor pool of 3 million fresh graduates.

“Despite the ECQ [enhanced community quarantine], we were actually finding jobs in our website. There are so much more associated with one job that it can actually refer to more than one opening,” JobStreet country manager Philip Gioca.

Gioca said among the available jobs for fresh graduates are call center agent, teacher, customer representative, administrative assistant, nurse, among others.

He said that amid the pandemic, the business process outsourcing sector particularly call centers remained the top sector in search of talents for key positions, followed by the government and the education sectors.

The banking and financial sector ranked fourth, while the computer/information technology industry followed at fifth.

Others in the top ten list are health and medical sector; property/real estate; retail/merchandise; manufacturing/production; and transportation and logistics.

“Some companies have paused accepting applications, but many of them remain actively recruiting, so we’d like to encourage jobseekers that there’s a way for them to signal hirers that they are up for urgent hiring,” Gioca said.

The report said the health emergency pivoted the preference of majority of job seekers for work-from-home arrangement while many employers were willing to venture into the set-up except for industries requiring physical presence like manufacturing and production.

It said that with over 2 million Filipino workers reportedly displaced by the ECQ, the job site is offering work-from-home opportunities that are fit for today’s condition.

Available via #SanaOL jobs by JobStreet are listing of over 15,000 online teaching jobs, over 14,000 job vacancies that require no experience from job seekers, more than 1,600 opportunities with work from home setup and over 180 job opportunities for undergraduates.
