Century Pacific founder dies at 90

Century Pacific Food Inc. founder and chairman emeritus Ricardo Po Jr. passed away at 90 years old, the company said Tuesday.

“We are deeply saddened to report that Mr. Ricardo S. Po, Sr., founder and chairman emeritus of Century Pacific Food Inc., has passed away,” the company said in a disclosure to the stock exchange.

The family did not provide other details.

A self-made entrepreneur, Po started his professional career as a journalist before moving to advertising where he started and managed Cathay Promotions Advertising Co. He also later became a stock broker.

He founded Century Pacific in 1978 and it grew to become one of the largest branded food companies in the Philippines. Forbes Asia included Po in its list of Philippines 50 richest in 2021 with a net worth of $1.5 billion.

Aside from Century Pacific, the Po family has interests in property developer Arthaland Corp. and restaurant chain Shakeys Pizza Asia Ventures Inc.
