Aleta Planet, a Singapore-based financial technology company, plans to team up with Greenergy Holdings Inc., the listed company of of agri-entrepreneur Antonio Tiu, for the issuance of virtual cards and cross-border remittance services in the Philippines.
Under the proposed partnership, Aleta Planet will provide proprietary technology solution to issue co-branded virtual UnionPay cards through Greenergy and its affiliates.
This is expected to ease payment collection and provide a fully digital cross-border money remittance service to UnionPay accounts.
Greenergy will then promote the use of virtual accounts and cross-border remittance services to customers and clients of its subsidiaries and affiliates.
Tiu earlier reported plans to transform Greenergy into a major holding company that will own assets such as food and agri, biotech, fintech projects, green infrastructure and renewable energy.
He also disclosed plans to engage in fintech to help Filipino consumers attain financial inclusion, especially the unbanked and underbanked who deserve easier access to the financial system.
“The goal is to maximize opportunities for business growth, enhance shareholder value and cater to the evolving needs of Filipino consumers especially during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Greenergy said.
The planned partnership would pave the way for Greenergy’s development of a fintech arm by providing fully-digital cross-border remittance services.
Other services under the planned partnership will include payment acceptance, domestic and cross-border B2B money transfers, e-commerce and white-labelling for financial institutions and corporations and co-branding programs.
