Emperador books P5.9b in earnings

Liquor producer Emperador Inc. said Monday net income in the first nine months rose 11 percent to P5.9 billion from a year ago on higher international sales.

Emperador said in a disclosure to the stock exchange the positive performance was fueled by strong international sales of brandy and whisky in various markets.

The company which owns Emperador Brandy and Fundador Spanish Brandy de Jerez, said it registered a 26-percent record growth in earnings to P2.5 billion in the third quarter, as overseas demand for its products surged amid the global pandemic.

“The success of our international expansion boosted company earnings, bringing stability and growth at a time when the Philippines wrestles with the impact of the coronavirus. Emeperador’s global business saw double-digit growth as it adapted well with the new consumption trends,” Emperador president Winston Co said.

The liquor firm said Fundador, Tres Cepas and Emperador brands grew consistently, especiallyin the United States, Canada, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and Greater China.
