SM to open 85th mall nationwide in Sto. Tomas, Batangas

SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPH), one of the leading integrated property developers in Southeast Asia, said it would open on Friday its 85th mall in the country.

SMPH said in a disclosure to the stock exchange Wednesday SM City Sto. Tomas in Batangas would open with 110,000 square meters of gross floor area (GFA).

“We are delighted to open SM City Sto. Tomas this Friday to add more fun and excitement to the thriving City of Sto. Tomas in Batangas. We are making sure that this newest shopping, dining and entertainment hub will provide its guests with SM’s well-loved brand of service and convenience that will be beneficial to our fellows in Batangas, most especially this coming holidays season,” SMPH president Jeffrey Lim said.

This is SMPH’s fourth mall in Batangas. The three existing malls in the province are located in Batangas City, Lipa and Lemery.

SM City Sto. Tomas is situated along Maharlika Highway, San Bartolome, Santo Tomas City, Batangas, and is strategically located at the intersection of highways traversing the provinces of Laguna, Batangas and Quezon.

SMPH said the mall would open with almost 100 percent of space lease-awarded to tenants across shopping, dining and entertainment stores.

Anchor retailers include SM Hypermarket, SM Appliance, Ace Hardware, Miniso, Watsons, Simply Shoes, Pet Express, and BDO. The new mall will also have SM Foodcourt, Cyberzone, indoor plaza and parking areas.

SM City Sto. Tomas is also the third SM mall to open this year, after SM City Bataan with 46,000 sq. m. of GFA and SM City San Pedro in Laguna with 23,000 sq. m. of GFA.

SM Prime also has seven malls in China aside from the Philippines.

The share price of SMPH closed unchanged at P30.20 on Wednesday.
