A tale of basketball and doctoral studies (Part 2)

“As he closes his athletic story with the Green Archers, he opens a new one in the business realm.”

Fast-forward to 2023, Benjamin became the DLSU team captain. He was given the rare opportunity to play alongside his two brothers, Michael and Isaiah. After years of hardship and relentless attempts to regain the glory of DLSU basketball, a promising force of fourteen strong young men entered into battle together. He said nobody predicted De La Salle University would win initially, even after hiring a new and decorated coach, Topex Robinson.

They began with minor setbacks, losing some close games, but the team, under the guidance of Coach Topex, grew stronger. Despite a significant loss to UP in Game 1 of the Finals, Coach Topex’s leadership and belief in them that it was not over and that a winning mindset was always the key, instilled a renewed sense of determination in the team.

DLSU emerged triumphant in Season 86 of Men’s Basketball, led by Finals MVP Kevin Quiambao and graduating seniors Francis Escandor, Mark Nonoy, and Evan Nelle. Winning the championship in his final year was a moment of glory for Benjamin, who shared the triumph with his brothers, cherishing these moments as they etch themselves in DLSU history.

After the championship, the Phillips brothers were given a custom Adidas shoe line with their likeness embedded on the front. Three Adidas stripes for three Phillips brothers is a fitting end to these three champions. After bringing the UAAP crown back to Taft Avenue, Benjamin decided to venture back to the United States to continue running his multiple business operations.

Benjamin serves as the chief operating officer of The Business Hospital. This innovative organization approaches business management with the same level of care and expertise as a medical hospital treats its patients. The Business Hospital boasts a team of reputable business doctors and specialists, each holding terminal degrees in their respective fields. This ensures that businesses of all industries, sizes, and locations receive top-notch care and tailored solutions.

During a recent business trip, Benjamin visited the Cleveland Cavaliers in his home state of Ohio. The primary objective of this visit was to establish deeper partnerships and further the organization’s mission and vision by collaborating on market research expansion in Brazil and cultural immersion initiatives within the country.

In addition to his work with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Benjamin also oversees The Business Hospital’s operations in 14 countries globally, actively engaging with influential business leaders and advisors, particularly in the Philippines, to foster valuable connections and partnerships.

His daily work is as dynamic and exhilarating as his basketball and volleyball court play. Operating a general Business Hospital, Benjamin states that his patient portfolio consists of everything from a small restaurant opening to new financial technology startups looking to enter the market, large multimillion-dollar outfits like Rumpke and Nasa, and everything in between.

As he closes his athletic story with the Green Archers, he opens a new one in the business realm by pairing it with a terminal degree alongside a global entrepreneurial mindset.
