Japanese automotive manufacturer Nissan plans to bring Nissan LEAF, a full electric vehicle, to the Philippines next year.

Nissan executives told Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi that the company would bring the LEAF’s EV technology to the country in support of the Duterte administration’s vision of a safer, smarter and more sustainable future.

Cusi led the test drive of the Nissan LEAF, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle.  The zero-emission vehicle is engineered to give a more confident and cleaner drive.

The test drive was held at the Energy Center at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, where the Department of Energy’s office is located.

Joining Cusi are Nissan Philippines Inc. president Atsushi Najima, Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines chairman Rommel Juan, Energy Assistant Secretary Leonido Pulido III, Energy Utilization and Management Bureau director Patrick Aquino and Nissan LEAF specialist Cyrus Macasera.
