Union Bank of the Philippines reaped seven awards at The Asset Triple A Digital Awards 2020, including Digital Banker of the Year Asia-Pacific for bank president and CEO Edwin Bautista and Digital Bank of the Year-Philippines for the third straight year.
Other awards bestowed on UnionBank were the Best ATM Project for its BitBox ATM, Best Digital Financial Inclusion Project for i2i which connects rural banks to the country’s main financial network, Best Digital Collaboration for its Retailer Financing Program, Best Digital Upgrade for its Mobile Check Deposit and Best Social Media Project for UnionBank GlobalLinker Trade Connect.
Bautista, who has over 25 years of superior track record in banking, launched UnionBank’s digital transformation which prompted the introduction of revolutionary initiatives including the first “selfie-banking” in Asia, first fully digital bank branch in the Philippines and first chatbot in the country, among others.
This was on top of partnerships with fintechs and advocating the use of blockchain technology.
The bank’s digital efforts gave a major boost to its key businesses, while simultaneously enabling greater financial inclusion and inclusion prosperity for all Filipinos.
