Laguna Water AAA Water Corp., a unit of Manila Water Company Inc., said it will spend P75 million to build facilities that will serve Victoria town, its new service area.

The company said the Sangguniang Bayan of Victoria, Laguna in a resolution dated Aug. 23, approved the inclusion of the municipality in the service area of Laguna Water.

Laguna Water is a joint venture company between the provincial government of Laguna and Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manila Water.

“The inclusion is pursuant to the amended concession agreement between Laguna Water and PGL, which, in turn, was executed to provide clean, safe, and reliable water supply to the entire province of Laguna and to replicate the improvements in water services in the cities of Binan, Cabuyao, and Sta. Rosa,” Manila Water said in a disclosure to the stock exchange.

Manila Water said the inclusion of Victoria would require the construction of a deep well and treatment facility for water supply.

Laguna Water will also lay over 14 kilometers of distribution lines. “Completion of initial phases is slated for April 2018,” said Manila Water.

Laguna Water earlier said it would spend P5 billion over the next three years to increase its coverage area in Laguna province.

“Laguna Water is the biggest business of Manila Water outside Metro Manila. Over the next three years, we are spending about P5 billion. This year, we alloted P1.4 billion for [capital expenditure],” said Laguna Water general manager Melvin Tan.
