Ford Philippines said it will bring the best vehicles to the Philippine market despite the threat of higher taxes the government intends to impose on the automotive industry.

“We’re very much aware of it and we are very supportive of the government’s plan to invest in a brighter future for the Philippines. We’re waiting for the government to release the final version before  we can comment on it,” Ford Philippines managing director Lance Mosley said in an interview Thursday in Pasay City, referring to the proposed excise taxes on vehicles.

“At this point we’re working closely with the government to provide some of our feedback, some of our points of discussions. We understand that there’s gonna be some impact to business,” Mosley said.

He said whatever decision the Philippine government came up with should be able “to address and work out a level playing field” for all automotive players.

“What we’re in favor is that we’ll have the consistency, transparency and partnership with our government and a level playing field that we can all compete in,” he said.
