Imus City Mayor Alex Advincula has mobilized local inspectors to monitor gas stations across the locality to ensure fair pricing of petroleum products following a recent spike in global oil costs.
Under Executive Order 019, the Imus City Fuel Monitoring and Inspection Team (ICFMIT) conducted a series of thorough inspections on March 21 to verify that gasoline and diesel prices remain in accordance with government standards. The initiative aims to protect the public interest and maintain order within the local trade sector amid the ongoing energy crisis.
The city government confirmed that regular inspections and communication with fuel retailers will continue to ensure honest sales and prevent market manipulation.
“It is important to ensure that there are no excessive charges that will affect the livelihood of the people, especially in the face of the continuous increase in the price of petroleum in the market,” City Mayor Alex Advincula said.
Local officials said the move is a proactive response to the economic burden placed on residents. By monitoring price boards and pump calibrations, the city intends to shield commuters and transport workers from predatory pricing.
