MANILA, Philippines – On-demand delivery platform Lalamove said it is working with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to safeguard consumers from fraudulent sellers through the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark.
The initiative is a key part of Lalamove’s efforts to strengthen consumer safety and empower online businesses.
The E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark, established under the Internet Transactions Act (Republic Act No. 1167), is a government-issued digital badge that helps consumers verify the authenticity of platforms and online sellers.
“We appreciate Lalamove’s effort to become our trusted partner in supporting the DTI’s initiative to address public concern over illegitimate online businesses through the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark,” said DTI E-Commerce Bureau officer-in-charge Eryl Royce Nagtalon.
“With many businesses using Lalamove, the Trustmark will help assure the safety and security of their transactions,” said Nagtalon.
As a Trustmark-registered app, Lalamove, which serves about 35,000 businesses daily, said it’s committed to maintaining fair and trustworthy e-commerce practices.
“One of Lalamove’s core purposes is to connect MSMEs and consumers, so we are continuously doing our part to make sure that every transaction on our platform is safe and secure,” said Djon Nacario, managing director of Lalamove Philippines.
“By supporting DTI’s fight against fraudulent activities, we can help our customers protect themselves better,” he said.
Lalamove has also been educating its customers and partner drivers on safety practices, such as identifying and reporting delivery mismatches. This is part of its ongoing safety measures, which include Driver Facial Recognition and a Goods Protection Promise.
Lalamove said it would assist its small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) partners who want to apply for a Trustmark digital badge to provide them with a QR code and security features that link to an online business database for consumer verification.
